TAX BILL FIXES TO KEEP WIND INVESTMENT AND JOBS GROWING
Tens of thousands of wind energy supporters contacted Members of Congress to ask them to honor their commitment to wind energy during tax reform. The House passed the final bill on Tuesday, December 19, with the Senate vote to come soon after.
With the help of champions in Congress, the final tax reform package does honor the PATH Act of 2015, which provided for a gradual phase-out of wind energy tax credits through 2019. This stability is expected to unleash $85 billion in economic activity and create nearly 50,000 new wind jobs by 2020. Numerous trends are expected to drive further wind power adoption into the 2020s.
Thank you to those who took action on this alert. Your efforts were critical drivers for the fixes made to the final bill, and your continued involvement will help ensure that the bill protects wind energy jobs and investments as intended.
