Mike Mayer, Milford, UT
Mike Mayer was born and raised in Milford, Utah-a small town of less than 2,000 residents. He watched as many of his friends from the Class of 1992, unable to find jobs in the area, had to move away. Mike was one of the few to stick it out, stay, and open his own business.
Mike's dedication to his family and his local roots paid off when a wind farm was built nearby, providing the townspeople with an affordable new form of electricity generation. Mike's Tire & Oil, selling the products of the petroleum industry, was energized by wind.
Not only did the project bring new business to Mike's shop, but also new friends, who began putting down their own roots throughout the community. Mike has witnessed Milford's transformation, with families finding new reasons and opportunities to stay in the area. Revenue from the wind farm has become an insurance policy for the town's success.
Mike has always been proud to be a native of Milford, and now-thanks to its homegrown wind-he has a thriving community to share in that pride.
